Mac Miller‘s family is planning on releasing a 2d posthumous album on the fifth anniversary of 2020’s Circles —his first posthumous album in which the past due rapper was running on prior to his untimely passing in 2018.
The Pittsburgh rapper’s family posted a remark on his Instagram explaining why they’ve decided to liberate the endeavor. “A large number of Malcolm’s lovers are aware of Balloonerism, an entire length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014,” they wrote. “This is a endeavor that was of vital importance to Malcolm — to the extent that he commissioned paintings for it and discussions on the subject of when it will have to be introduced were had often, even if in spite of everything GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.”
Together with, “We believe the endeavor showcases every the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial permutations of the album were circulating online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm continuously expressed being very important to him, we felt it most appropriate to provide an authentic type of the endeavor to the world.”
Fans can preorder physically copies (CD, cassette, vinyl) on his website. There’s a limited model deluxe vinyl type that features a poster, a booklet of images and lyrics, and a three-D pop-up centerfold.
Balloonerism is able to drop Jan. 17, 2025, exactly 5 years after the release of Circles and easily two days quicker than what would’ve been Mac’s thirty 3rd birthday.
